When Congress passed the Stimulus Bill (ARRA) last spring, we were ready. Under my leadership the region’s leaders approved $38 million of new transportation projects in only two weeks, creating new jobs in the process. I also went to Salem to fight for our fair share, doubling what ODOT spent here and creating additional jobs…
Our population is growing. We need homes and jobs for our kids and people moving to the region. But we can use the land we already have inside of our urban growth boundary better. We must rebuild and reinvest in our downtowns and main streets. That’s why I support holding the urban growth boundary tight – to protect farms and forests – and to spend precious tax dollars where you live today…

I’ve helped direct our precious public dollars to projects that have made real differences – North Main Village in Milwaukie, rebuilding Division Street in Gresham and the waterfront in Oregon City, the street car on Portland’s eastside, as well as Main Street in Cornelius…
Clean air, clean water, green places we can go to relax or play – they’re our birthright as Oregonians. In 2006 I helped pass the largest bond measure in history to buy natural areas critical to protecting our air and water quality, in addition to providing wildlife habitat. Combined with common sense protections of streams and riverbanks, we can continue to enjoy nature in our communities…
