Campaign Update

Posted by Matt, December 6, 2009

Dear Friends,

Thanks to many of you, over two hundred supporters joined us for our kickoff party before the holiday. (Watch an excerpt of Rex’s Kick-Off speech here). We are proud to have Oregon’s most prominent and trusted regional leaders join Rex’s campaign for Metro President. Early supporters include Clackamas County Commissioner Jim Bernard, Washington County Chair Tom Brian, Multnomah County Commissioner Judy Shiprack, State Senator Jackie Dingfelder and Portland Commissioners Nick Fish and Randy Leonard.

With the campaign launch over, the race has begun and we need your help more than ever! With nearly 1 million voters in the district and only 22 weeks until Election Day, we cannot waste any time.

We need you. You can help Rex’s Team reach our goal of raising $100,000 by the end of the year. Make a contribution today of $25, $50, $100, or more to push us over the top. Remember you can still give your $50 tax credit* ($100 for couples) before Dec. 31st. Donate online here.

With the help of supporters like you, we can meet the challenges of the future by electing Rex as our next Metro President. Rex is the only candidate with the experience and proven leadership on the critical regional issues we care most about – tackling global warming, bringing family wage jobs to the region, protecting our working farms, and supporting transportation choices like light-rail, bike and pedestrian improvements that protect our quality of life and prepare us for a growing population.

As always, thank you for your continued support.

The Rex Team

P.S – Donate online today to help us reach $100,000 by the end of the year!
* The State of Oregon tax system gives each tax-paying Oregonian a $50 gift. But you can’t keep it. Instead, you must either pay it back in state taxes — or donate it to a qualified political campaign. To put it another way: By donating $50 to a political campaign you can reduce your taxes or increase your refund by that same $50 (assuming you pay at least $50 in taxes). That’s right: it’s a full 100% credit, not a deduction.
